Study Abroad Challenges For Indian Students

Studying abroad can be a opportunity to widen your horizon of knowledge with the new study environment. However it comes with a few challenges:
  • The system of education varies from place to place. Universities, these days, have online assessment of assignments and offer many e-learning packages. So coping up the mode of education could take some time to get used to.

  • Work-stress: For example, internationally reputed universities have a high standard of expectations from the students and so, the study related stress would be quite difficult to manage. At times you may wonder, that you're the only non-genius student in your class. Do not let this bog you down, but take it as a challenge and prove yourself why are you a part of the class and the university.
  • Financial Aspects: Money is vital consideration before you plan your studies abroad. Take into account the scholarship opportunities at the university, cost of living, accommodation rent, travel costs etc.. The cost of living can be worked out by finding a suitable part-time job. Also prepare your travel documents with utmost care.
  • Communication barrier: If you intend to study abroad where you are not familiar with the spoken language, then it would require additional efforts from your end. It is fun to pick up the native slang.  Further, you'd have an opportunity to meet students from different ethnic groups, which could be exciting and interesting.
  • Living independently: For you would now be your own Boss. You'd have to do all your cooking, dishes, laundry, cleaning, grocery, study assignments etc., all by yourself. You get to party with your friends late on weekends, that could be a bonus :P
  • The most difficult part is staying away from your family and relatives at home and maintaining the relationships. Time difference can also play a spoiler during the long-distance Skype calls.
But the satisfaction of conquering the above challenges to a degree from a foreign University would be well-worth it!! Grab the opportunity with both your hands and I assure that you'll have the most memorable experiences from your study venture abroad. Good Luck!!
